Alan "AJ" Jorgensen Obituary (1950 - 2024)

Alan “AJ” L. Jorgensen, 74, of Virden, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Carlinville Area Hospital. He was born in Springfield, on New Year’s Day in 1950, the son of Elmer and Wilma Cole Jorgensen. He married Michelle Barnes, and she survives. In addition to his wife Michelle, he is survived by his children: Samuel (Nita) Jorgensen, of Thayer, Valerie (Aaron) Harris, of Virden; step- sons: Joshua Kuntzman, Adam Kuntzman; 5 grandchildren; 8 step- grandchildren; 2 great- grandchildren; and brother Robert (Hazel) Jorgensen, of Decatur. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Gloria Tapp and Sandra Grooms. AJ was a United States Army Veteran, having served in the 101st Airborne. He later worked as a repairman, retiring from the Panhandle pipeline after 34 years. He was very much an outdoorsman, loving to fish, hunt, and look for mushrooms.
