Ada Marie Duncan Obituary (1914

Ada Marie Duncan, 100, of Decatur passed away on Wednesday (Jan. 21, 2015) at Imboden Creek Living Center. Ada was born on July 22, 1914 in Stanford, IL the daughter of William Thomas and Susie (Hendren) Ohm. She was married and widowed to Ross N. Defenbaugh who perished in World War II and was interred in Belgium, Willard Derby who passed away in 1963 and then Preston Duncan who passed away in 1980. Ada worked as a telephone operator in her younger years. She kept herself active and lived independently well into her 90"s. Surviving is her son James Derby and his wife Cathy of Mt. Zion, IL; six grandchildren: Valerie Defenbaugh, Erik (Lisa) Defenbaugh, Cindy Derby, Sherry (Jamie) Mattingly, Dan (Erin) Derby and Denise Derby; five great grandchildren: Marina Defenbaugh, Ashley Mattingly, J.D. Mattingly, Nadya Blair and Heath Derby; one great-great grandson: Kaden Mattingly; daughter-in-law: Roxanne Defenbaugh of Mountain Home, AR. She was preceded in death by her son, Jack L. Defenbaugh and her parents, William Thomas Ohm and Susie J. (Ohm) Duncan, one sister and one brother. Ada's wishes were to have no services. Her family is planning a gathering of immediate family to celebrate her life. Dawson & Wikoff, North Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
