Teresita Almanza Obituary (1934 - 2023)

Teresita Almanza, 89, of Bloomington, passed away at 9:25 a.m., Monday, May 1, 2023, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. Her funeral will be at Noon, Thursday, May 4, 2023, at St. Mary's Church, Bloomington with Rev. Greg Nelson officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Teresita was born January 16, 1934, in Mexico, the daughter of Ponciano and Julia Gutierrez. She married Jose Almanza in 1964 and he preceded her in death on June 12, 2013. Survivors include six children, Rosendo (Sandra) Almanza of Normal, Miguelina (Oscar) Almanza-Vega, Celina (Rafael) Rivera, Hilda (Francisco) Alvarado, Jose M. (Nancy) Almanza and Horacio (Hilda) Almanza, all of Bloomington; seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers and sisters. Teresita was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Mary's Church in Bloomington. She loved her grandchildren and babysat all of them throughout the years. Teresita was extremely family oriented, and they meant the world to her. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
