Sharon L. Gibbons Acuncius Goldasich Obituary (1942

Sharon L. Gibbons Acuncius Goldasich, 71, of McNabb and formerly of Bloomington, died at 8:53 p.m. Monday, November 11, 2013 outside of El Paso.Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington. Private interment will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2013 at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the Putnam County Food Pantry.She was born September 20, 1942 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Russell and Virginia Sellers Taylor. Her father was reported missing in action during WWII and declared dead when Sharon was two, at which time she was raised by her mother and step-father, Ivan Ford.She married Gerald Gibbons on June 26, 1960 and to this union was born four daughters, Monica Johnson of Bloomington, Lori Ogden of Joliet, Joy (James) Hagaman of Lewistown and Cindy (Bryan) Renfro of Bloomington. She later married Bradley Acuncius on April 28, 2001 and he preceded her in death on December 27, 2011. She married James Goldasich on August 25, 2013 and he preceded her in death on October 27, 2013.Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Nathan Johnson, Jacob Ogden, Ben Ogden, Joshua Ogden, Tabitha Staley, Jessica Stephens and Courtney Renfro; eight great-grandchildren; four step-daughters, Beth Acuncius of Hudson, Keirsa (Dan) Novotney of Appleton, WI, Gail (Mike) Cochran of Timewell, IL and Vanessa (Lee) Kramer of Meridien, KS; a brother, Douglas (Marilyn) Taylor of Rushville, IL; a half-sister, Alicia (Robert) Gipson, Florida; and four step-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her father; her mother; her step-father; and her grandmother, Courtna "Cookie" Chambers.Sharon worked at State Farm Insurance Companies and retired from BroMenn Regional Medical Center in 2002. She was a master gardener and enjoyed volunteering her time planting flowers for the Village of McNabb. She had a wide range of interests, including crafting, painting and cooking, and will be especially remembered for her homemade caramels, noodles and bread. Sharon had a strong love for all furry creatures and especially loved cats.Always selfless, Sharon will be long remembered for her genuine compassion and caring for others. Her giving spirit and abundant love will be forever missed.
