Mary G. Valeu, 80, of Bloomington, died at 12:49 p.m. on Thursday, January 05, 2017 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal. Her funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2017 at St. Patrick Church of Merna, with Monsignor Gregory Ketcham officiating. A private interment will be held at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. She was born June 11, 1936 in St. Cloud, MN, daughter of Joseph and Evelyn Ernst Schmitt. She married Arthur Lee Valeu on August 24, 1957 in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on September 5, 2014 in Normal. She was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Nick Valeu and Dustin Fortner. Surviving are four children, Joe (Malinda) Valeu of Shirley, Marilee (Bernardo) Bracero of Bloomington, Chuck (Sherry) Valeu of Normal and Wes (Monique) Jynella of N. Fort Myers, FL; eight grandchildren, Taryn (Taylor) Fortner, Nick (Kate) Fortner, Megan (Tim) Boerma, Josh (Jenny) Valeu, Tessa Valeu, Alex Bracero and Victoria Megan Jynella; six great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Jayden, Jase, Brody, Clayton and Rhianna. Also surviving is her brother, William (Jane) Schmitt of Georgetown, TX. Mary graduated from St. Peters High School in Keokuk, IA. She worked at Eureka Williams, where she retired as an executive secretary. She was an avid bowler and was the past president of the Bloomington Womens Bowling Association, and was also a member of the Bloomington Bowling Hall of Fame and the Illinois Womens Bowling Hall of Fame. Alongside her husband, Lee, she enjoyed riding their Harley Davidson motorcycle and was a member of the local HOG Chapter (Harley Owners Group). Mary also enjoyed spending her time with her family and friends and was strong her in faith. Mary volunteered at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center for 10 years and was active in Cursillo.
