Martie Cinnamon Obituary (1946

Martie Cinnamon, 70, of Normal, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at her home. Her funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, where visitation will be 2 hours prior to services. Cremation rites will be accorded after services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois or Home Sweet Home Ministries. To express condolences online, please visit www.carmodyflynn.com. She was born July 18, 1946 in in Monmouth, IL, daughter of Dale R. and Bessie I. Nelson Sward. After the death of her father, Martie was raised by her mother and step-father, Don Wright. Her parents and step-father preceded her in death. Martie was a 1964 graduate of Galesburg High School and then attended Augustana University. She married Tom Cinnamon on July 1, 1967 in Galesburg. Surviving are her husband, Tom, of Normal; her son, Tony (Molly) Cinnamon of Evanston, IL; her daughter, Mandy (Nick Cira) Cinnamon-Cira of Bloomington and two grandchildren, Charlie Lucy Cinnamon. Also surviving are her brother, James (Carolyn) Sward of Galesburg; step-sister, Mary Jane (Stan) Miller of Galesburg and step-brother, Frank (Kathy) Wright of Rancho Mirage, CA. Martie worked for over 20 years as a realtor for several local real estate offices since 1989. She was also a member of the Bloomington-Normal Association of Realtors, where she was past president and had received a life-time achievement award. She had various hobbies including feeding and watching the birds in her own backyard, tending to the spring and summer flowers in her garden and cooking and watching cooking shows on television. Martie was also a Civil War enthusiast and was an avid football fan, especially the Dallas Cowboys and the U of I Fighting Illini.
