Kenton Leon Walker, 85, of Florence, SC, formerly of Normal, died on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Mcleod Hospice Home in Florence, SC. His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2017 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, where visitation will start at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. on Monday at Springhill Cemetery, Danville, IL. He was born October 10, 1931 in Salisbury Township (Sangamon County), IL, son of Leonard and Bernice Ethell Walker. He married Audrey Jean Howard on October 4, 1953. He later married Mary Ann Moore on July 24, 1971, she preceded him in death on June 16, 2008. He was also preceded in death by three grandchildren; one infant sister and three brothers. Surviving are two children, Patricia Marie (Tommie) Hogan of Jerseyville and Robert W. (Patti) Walker of Downs; two step-children, Sharon (Robert) Gainey of Florence, SC and Terry (Michelle) Moore of Danville; eight grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, Maurice Gene Walker of Topeka, Claude Walker, Mary (Chuck) Meyers, Lyle Walker, Jerry (Rhoda) Walker, Roger (Toni) Walker, Linda (John) Orris and Lois Walker, all of Jacksonville, Martha (Larry) DeGroot of Ashland, Mike (Brenda) Walker of Winchester, Marsha Hankins of Decatur and Marilyn (Glen) Spindle of Divernon. Kenton was a United States Army veteran, stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He then worked over 40 years as a conductor and switchmaster for ICG Railroad and later Amtrak, retiring in 1991. He enjoyed spending his free time fishing and traveling with his wife, Mary Ann.
