Julia Shanks, 57, of Bloomington, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at her home.A private memorial service has been held in Julias memory. Cremation rites have been accorded by Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois, 423 N. She married Brian R. Carver on January 7, 1984.Surviving are her daughters, Taylor (Jerry II) Grieco of Bloomington and Meghan (Kyle) Floyd of Normal; her parents, Wilbur and Nomi Shanks of Bloomington and three grandchildren, Camden Chase Grieco and Riley Floyd. Also surviving are her siblings, Beth Ann (fiance Jason Lartz) Murphy, Chris (Elisa) Shanks and Karen (Shawn) Schwiderski, all of Bloomington; and eight nieces, Kylee, Sydney, Lauren, Samantha, Logan, Paige, Katelyn and Morgan.Julia enjoyed a 35-year career as a hairstylist in the Bloomington/Normal area and made many close friends during those years. She enjoyed vacationing in the Lake of the Ozarks with her family; a tradition that began in her childhood.She loved being in the sun and doing yardwork. Julia was a dedicated supporter of her two daughters during sporting events and kept score books during their basketball games and later enjoyed watching her nieces play sports as well.She was proud of her three grandchildren and was deeply loved by her parents. She will be greatly missed by them, her daughters, and the rest of her family and friends.
