A.Laverne Minix 73, of Decatur, IL passed away at 3:30 p.m., Monday, February 22, 2016, in Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur. A service to celebrate Laverne's life will be at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion with Pastor Mitch Flesch officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Township Cemetery. Laverne was born June 21, 1942, in Decatur, IL the daughter of Orville and Sarah (Allgood) McCoy. She married Leo V. Minix Sr. on December 4, 1961. He preceded her in death on May 16, 2005. Laverne was retired from K-Mart and had worked as the office manager. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She along with her husband Leo enjoyed riding their Harley-Davidson motorcycle. They were charter members of the Decatur HOG Chapter. Surviving are her sons: Leo V. "Butch" Minix Jr. and his wife Barb of Calhan, CO, David W. Minix and his wife Susie of Decatur, and Rev. Scott L. Minix and his fiancee Debra of Ramsey, IL; grandchildren: Audrey Minix, Sarah Atchison and her husband Taylor, Joshua Minix, Stacey Lynn Minix, Michael Minix and his wife Sara, Nicole Minix, Niki Smith and her fiance Matt Niebur; brothers: Jim McCoy and his wife Charlene of Texas, Larry McCoy and his wife Linda of California and Tom McCoy and his wife Karen of California; sister: Nancy Roddy of California. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her twin granddaughters.
