Mary Frances Dyson

Mary Frances “Mary Fran” Dyson, 78, Bloomington, died at 9:45 p.m. Monday (Jan. 30, 2012) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Bloomington, with Deacon Bruce DeGooyer officiating. Inurnment will be at East Lawn Cemetery, Bloomington.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. Memorials may be made to Illinois Cancer Care at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Mary Fran was born Feb. 17, 1933, in Bloomington, the daughter of Francis Edward and Mary Elizabeth Welter Dobbs.

She married George William Dyson on Sept. 6, 1952, in Bloomington.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Douglas (Deidre) Dyson, Normal, and William (Susannah) Dyson, Carmel, Ind.; four grandchildren, Meghan (Josh) Herring, Bloomington; Kristen Dyson, Columbus, Ohio; Holly Dyson, Bloomington; and Keith Dyson, Carmel, Ind.; and one sister, Rnetta (Peter) Wick, Liverpool, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary Fran was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Bloomington; AARP; and Sun City West, Ariz., Macraknit Club.

Mary Fran formerly worked at State Farm Insurance Cos. and Champaign National Bank for 12 years.

Mary Fran graduated from Bloomington High School in 1950. George and Mary Fran were high school sweethearts, and they lived abroad for several years in Tripoli, Libya; London, U.K.; and Jakarta, Indonesia.

She was a loving wife mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her.
