Carlynne Engel

Carlynne Dree Engel, 78, of Bloomington died at 6:53 p.m. Friday (Jan. 27, 2012) at Meadows Mennonite Home in Chenoa.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday (Feb. 3, 2012) at Calvert and Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington. Inurnment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in LeRoy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Libraries of Unit 5 Schools in Normal.

Calvert and Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.

Carlynne was born Nov. 28, 1933, in Decatur, the daughter of John A. and Leona G. Dolley South.

She is survived by her daughter, Lynne E. Reagan of Champaign; and one granddaughter, Katherine L. Reagan Duitsman and her husband, Eric, of Champaign.

Carlynne was preceded in death by her parents.

She was a graduate of Bloomington High School and Illinois State-Normal University. She was a librarian at several Unit 5 elementary schools and Normal Community High School. Before she became a librarian for Unit 5, she taught school and was librarian for Round Lake High School, Grant Community High School in Fox Lake and Eureka High School.

She was a life member of National Education Association and Illinois Education Association, the Illinois Retired Teachers’ Association and McLean County Retired Teachers’ Association.

    Lynne, we are so very sorry to learn about your mother’s passing. We have such fond memories of all of you from when we lived next door on Priscilla Lane years ago. We pray that loving memories will comfort you during this difficult time.

    We are currently spending our winter in California so won’t be able to attend her services. Please know we’ll be thinking of you.
