He has always wanted to be a funeral director and especially loves seeing the families he has helped, days or even weeks after their service, to see how wonderful they are healing and to hear their stories.

derrick wynn

Derrick Wynn

Funeral Director

(217) 935-3166

Derrick's ties have been firmly rooted in the Chicago area since birth. Raised in Stickney, Illinois, a resident of Darien, Illinois since 2002, and a college graduate of North Central College in Naperville (and later Worsham College of Mortuary Science), Derrick's move to Clinton and it's "laid-back atmosphere" contrasted greatly with his native Chicago surroundings. Derrick's hobbies and interests are diverse, ranging from drawing, history and music to reading comic books, going to concerts, and watching older movies and cartoons. He also enjoys spending time with his black Lab, Dio. It was Derrick's love for music that inspired his stint as a DJ at WONC 89.1 FM, and that subsequently fueled even more interest in the performing arts. When asked what he would do if he wasn't a funeral director, Derrick quickly shared that he would enjoy working in the voiceover acting industry. As a Funeral Director for Calvert Funeral Homes, Derrick is passionate about "making the family feel more at ease" and "being there for the family during their time of sorrow".

When a person's home town is Metropolis, thoughts of Superman usually persist. Tyler, who calls this small Illinois community "home", might have felt like the famous superhero due to his athletic accomplishments. A three sport athlete in high school who played for the 2009 33-2 State Runner-up Massac County High School basketball team, Tyler's passion for sports runs deep. If he's not watching his Duke Blue Devils or rooting for his St. Louis Cardinals, Tyler can be found enjoying other outdoor activities such as fishing, golfing, or taking his dog (Duke) on walks, whom he rescued from Project Hope in Metropolis. Tyler is a graduate of Shawnee Community College and Worsham College of Mortuary Science, and his extensive education prepared him for his role as a funeral director for Calvert Funeral Homes. Says Tyler, "I enjoy the satisfaction of making the most difficult time in people's lives a more relieving experience. I also enjoy dealing with the community as a whole." Clinton's "small-town atmosphere" and community kindness was an instant attraction to Tyler; but he readily admits that if he couldn't be in Clinton, he would be found lounging on a beach in 90 degree conditions.

Evan represents the third generation of the Calvert name in the funeral industry, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Larry, and father, Alex. A Carthage College student (where he is a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon) and future Worsham College of Mortuary Science enrollee, Evan’s desire is to further the legacy of his family members and offer the same kind of care and service to the communities in which the Calvert family serves. As Evan readily admits, “I embrace being able to help families in their darkest times in life.” When Evan is not attending to the needs of those aforementioned families or studying, he can be found spending time with his family and friends, his girlfriend Hannah, and his dogs, Sally and George. Evan loves Bloomington-Normal, especially the wide array of good restaurants, amazing golf courses, and the friendly families that comprise these communities. In his limited spare time, Evan enjoys watching baseball, fishing, and golfing; and he dreams of one day playing on the PGA Tour, where he can play all the top courses in the world and ultimately employ his father as his caddy.
