Warren J. Rundles

El Paso: Warren J. Rundles, 89, of El Paso, died at 11:50 am Friday, October 14, 2011 at Advocate Bromenn Medical Center, Normal.

 Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, El Paso with Rev. Jonathan Boehne officiating.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, El Paso. Visitation will be 12:30 until time of service on Sunday at the memorial home.  Memorials may be made to Woodford County 4-H Program or to the Central Illinois Angus Association.

Warren was born November 20, 1921 at El Paso, IL to Charles and Lilly (Steiglemeyer) Rundles. He married Eloise Shutt on September 18, 1943 in Bloomington, IL. She preceded him in death on October 4, 2010.

Surviving are his partners in the Rundles Angus Farms, Brent & Jenny Henkel, of El Paso; their children, Abe & Kate; a sister-in-law, Magda Rundles, of New Mexico; and nieces and nephews, John Rundles, Susan Mize, Doug Rundles, and Robin Rundles.

His parents and one brother, Charles Rundles preceded him in death.

Warren was a founding member of the Central Illinois Angus Association and a member of the American Angus Association.

The great love of his life was his Angus cattle. He was always proud to show and tell others about his cattle. Warren did not give up caring for his cattle until the very end. He will also be remembered for his jokes and story telling.

Dale Hasselman

Toluca – Dale Hasselman, 87 of Toluca and Magnolia died at 5:00 PM Sunday at his residence in Toluca.

 His funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday October 14, 2011 at Calvert Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Toluca with Elder Alec Bailes officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Metamora.  Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7:00 PM Thursday and for one hour prior to services both at the memorial home.  Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

 Dale was born June 25, 1924 in rural Magnolia, the son of Ernest A. and Elizabeth Engelhaupt Hasselman.  He married Mary Ellen Baggs on November 27, 1965 in East Peoria.  She died on December 29, 2008.

 Surviving are four children, Zona (Gary) Schneider of Pekin, Ada Uphoff and Glenna (Dennis) Cunningham both of Goodfield, and David (Stephanie) Hasselman of Independence, MO; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and three sisters.

 Dale was a member of the Magnolia United Methodist Church.  He was a life long farmer in the Magnolia area and had worked at Windsor Foods for over 20 years.

Cleo H. Kroeschen

Toluca – Cleo H. Kroeschen, 88 of Toluca died peacefully at 9:15 PM Monday, August 8, 2011 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Minonk.

    Her funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, August 12, 2011 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Toluca with Pastor Barbara J. Ziah officiating.  Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Toluca.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Calvert – Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Toluca and for one hour prior to services Friday at the church.  Memorials may be made to her church, the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation or the Minonk Ambulance.

     Cleo was born March 19, 1923 in Stover, MO the daughter of Henry and Helena Steinmeyer Koester.  She married Robert H. Kroeschen on July 5, 1941 in Stover, MO.  He died April 4, 1992.

     Surviving are her four children, Gloria Harms of Peoria, Gary (Cynthia) Kroeschen of Toluca, Eugene (Ronda) Kroeschen of Lafayette, IN and Greg (Debra) Kroeschen of Toluca; a brother, Clarence Koester of Cypress, CA; and a sister, Alice Harms of Tonica.  Also surviving are 8 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

     She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

     Cleo was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.  She had worked in the Seneca Shipyard during WWII.  She then worked 20 years as a seamstress at the Toluca Garment Company and lastly as a bookkeeper at Kroeschen Plumbing & Heating for 13 years until retiring in 1987.

     Cleo loved her family and was a great cook.  Salads and pies were her specialty.  She had crocheted countless afghans for family and friends.

Roger Heuer

Lexington: Roger A. Heuer, 69, of Lexington, died Saturday May 7, 2011, 12:25 pm at Advocate Bromenn Medical Center, Normal.

Visitation will be Wednesday May 11, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Calvert-Johnson & Musselman Funeral Home, Lexington. Funeral services will be Thursday 11:00 am at the funeral home. Cremation rites will follow after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to American Cancer Society or to Lexington Genealogical Society.

Roger and his family made a generous donation of his eyes to be used for corneal implants and medical study and education.

Roger was born April 28, 1942 at Pontiac, IL to George & Rosemary (Quinn Hartnett) Heuer. He married Janice Currin at Chenoa, IL in 1965. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Jeffrey A. (Jessica) Heuer, of Greensboro, GA, Eric P. (Kristen) Heuer, of Lexington and Michael J. (Kara) Heuer, of Normal, six grandchildren, Tyler, Jeffrey “Mac”, Kathleen, Grace, Sydney and Hannah, two brothers, Ron Heuer, of McHenry, IL and Robert Heuer, of North Carolina, and one sister, Ruth (Ray) Sipe, of North Carolina, a sister-in-law, Sally (Bill) Gulley, of Le Roy. His parents preceded him in death.

Roger graduated from Chenoa High School and attended Illinois State University. He had served in the Illinois National Guard. He was employed with Farnsworth & Wylie and later retired from McLean County Highway Department. 

Roger enjoyed activities with his sons and grandchildren, including serving as a 4-H Leader for several years. He was also active and served as president of the Lexington Genealogical and Historical Society.

Martha “Marty” Nadler

Toluca – Martha Ann “Marty” Nadler, 65 of Toluca died at 4:50 AM Thursday, May 05, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Streator.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 AM Monday, May 9, 2011 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Toluca with Fr. Edward Kopec officiating.  Cremation rites will be accorded.  Inurnment will be at a later date in St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:45 AM Monday at Calvert – Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Toluca with a rosary to be recited at 10:45 AM.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Ann’s Catholic Church or to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

    Marty was born July 15, 1945 in Peoria, the daughter of Richard and Evelyn Uphoff Weiland.  She married Arnold “Butch” Nadler on June 17, 1967 in Rutland.  He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Kevin of Normal and Terry of Rome; four brothers, Dave of Minonk, Paul of Virginia, Roger of Rutland and Greg of Wisconsin; two sisters, Teresa Anderson of Normal and Mary Beth Duffy of Blackstone; and four grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her parents.

    Marty was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Toluca.

    She was employed at ASTA Care Center of Toluca for 24 ½ years.  She enjoyed craft shows, NASCAR racing and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Melvin Dean Reiter

Melvin Dean Reiter, 88, of Normal and formerly of Minonk, died on Good Friday April 22, 2011 at 2:10 pm at his home in Normal surrounded by his loving wife, four sons and their families.

Visitation will be Monday April 25, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk. Private family service will be held on Tuesday at the memorial home. The Rev. Jan Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow at Minonk Twp. Cemetery, Minonk. Military rites will be accorded by the Minonk American Legion. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or to the OSF Hospice.

Melvin was born February 18, 1923 in Minonk, IL to Eric and Bertha (Franklin) Reiter. He attended Minonk Schools and served his country in the United States Army from January 1943 to October, 1945. He married Phyllis Toler on June 15, 1946, in Minonk. Together the raised four sons, Jim of Los Angeles, CA, Dave (Rachel) of Elgin, Tom (Connie) of Minooka, and Bill (Nancy) of Minonk. Also surviving is one sister, Evelyn Trantina, of Roanoke, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. His parents, one sister, Kathleen, two brothers, Robert & Eric, preceded him in death.

Melvin worked in Roanoke, for 21 years at Ulrich’s and at Bessers for 16 years before retiring in 1985. He was also employed part-time at Ace Hardware, Normal for eight ½ years.

He was a proud American and a proud husband and father, and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Lowell A. Crusius

El Paso – Lowell A. Crusius, 90, passed away at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday (April 20, 2011) at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, El Paso.  

 

Lowell was born April 17, 1921, in El Paso, the son of John G. and Laura (Bailey) Crusius.  He married Joy Mathesius on April 30, 1944 in Mendota and farmed for over 40 years as a grain, swine and cattle producer.  Joy passed away in 1982.  He married Beverly (Vincent) Morgan in 1985.  She survives.  

 

He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Fay Crusius, in 1967, a sister, Bernice Mitchell and brothers, Lawrence and Kenneth Crusius.

 

Lowell was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Normal, El Paso Masonic Lodge, El Paso Farmer’s Club, McLean County Shrine Club, Bloomington Elks, Bloomington Consistory, Woodford County Farm Bureau, and served as Secretary of the Production Credit Association.  Lowell graciously provided his time and knowledge as 4-H leader of the El Paso Junior Ranchers for 25 years.

 

Also surviving are his children, Ann (Andy Judd) Crusius, Oviedo, FL, Jon, Auburn, IL, Gay Crusius (Bruce Evans), Green Valley, CA; Beverly’s children, Terry, Connie DeBord (Tom), Rick, Mark and Scott (Kathy) Morgan; grandchildren, Layne and Neal Crusius, Jodie Antrobus, Carie Funke, Phillip and Ashley Morgan, Barry, Emily and Allison DeBord, Mackenzie Raisler and Erik and Anna Morgan.  Lowell is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, 12 nieces and 4 nephews.

 

Lowell’s visitation and funeral will both be held at the United Methodist Church in El Paso on Monday, April 25.  Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. with his funeral immediately following at 2:30 p.m.  The Rev. Craig Stimpert, Lowell’s great nephew, officiating.  Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in El Paso.  Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  Lowell’s family would like to express its sincere thanks to all who provided loving care to Lowell during his recent illness.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and to Advocate Hospice of Normal.

Shirley B. Sendelbach

     Henry – Shirley B. Sendelbach, 83, of Henry formerly of Tiskilwa died at 5:10 AM Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Heartland Health Care Center, Henry.

      She was born January 1, 1928 in Tonica to Lawrence and Edith Dean Rose.  She married Robert Sendelbach on February 1, 1947 in Leonore.  He preceded her in death on November 29, 2002.

      Surviving are one son, Larry (Janyce) Sendelbach of Springdale, WA; three daughters, Patricia (Robert) Law of Princeton, Julia (Fred) Michael of Williamsville, and Sherry (Brian) Hughes of Putnam; one sister, Betty Bayer of Marseilles; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

      She was also preceded in death by a sister, Doris Alderson.

      Shriley was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tiskilwa and the Altar and Rosary Society at the church.

      A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Calvert Johnson & McKitrick Memorial Home, Carroll Street Chapel, Henry with Fr. Kevin Creegan officiating.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to services Saturday at the memorial home.  Inurnment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Henry.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
