Carolyn J. Woodard

Carolyn J. Woodard, 73, Clinton, died at 8:20 p.m. Monday (April 16, 2012) at her family home, Clinton.

Her graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday (April 19, 2012) at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney. J. Kent Hickerson will officiate. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Second Chance Adoption.

She was born Sept. 20, 1938, in Clinton, daughter of Harold and Leona Mearida Day. She married Raymond E. “Woody” Woodard on Nov. 25, 1956, in Clinton. He passed away Aug. 1, 2011.

She is survived by her mother, Leona Day, Clinton; son, Brett (Angelle) Woodard, Clinton; two stepgrandchildren, Yvette Dempster and Dana Winter; and siblings, Donald Day and Jean (Dale) Schriber, both of Clinton.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother.

She enjoyed antiques, garage sales and her dogs.

Todd Steven Followell

 

DECATUR – Todd Steven Followell, 44, of Decatur died 5:50 p.m. Sunday (April 15, 2012) in his residence. Celebration of Life services will be 4 p.m. Thursday, (April 19, 2012) in Maranatha Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Ron Howerton officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services in the church. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Maranatha Assembly of God Church. Todd was born April 3, 1968, in Decatur, the son of David John and Judith Ann Woollen Followell. He was a member of Maranatha Assembly of God Church. He was an underwater welder, welder and massage therapist. He loved his dogs and three cats. Surviving are his parents; grandparents, Les and Betty Woollen of Wapella; brother, Jeffrey David (Robin) Followell of Indianapolis, Ind.; niece, Jinny (Colin) Parker of Decatur; great-nephew, Charlie Parker; nephew, Tyler David Followell of Denver, Colo.; stepniece, Taylor Ann Chambers of Indianapolis; aunts, Janis (Bill) Ellis of Wapella; Joan (Terry) Rousey of Indiana; uncles, Timothy (Dawn) Woollen of Phoenix, Ariz.; Joe Woollen of Wapella; several cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Junior W. and Laverne Followell; uncle, Kenneth Elmer Followell.

Mary Louise Gowler

Mary Louise Gowler, 79, of Farmer City, Ill., passed away at 7:55 a.m. on April 15, 2012 at Farmer City Rehab & Health Care.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. There will not be a funeral. Cremation rites will be accorded following visitation. Calvert’s is in charge of arrangements.

Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City.

Memorials may be made to Farmer City Rehab & Health Care.

Mary was born on July 25, 1932 in Wesleyville, New Foundland, Canada, daughter of Sidney Jones and Mary Ann (Roberts) Jones. She married Everett Gerald Gowler on October 6, 1951 at St. John’s New Foundland. He passed away on June 19, 1996.

Survivors include son Richard (June) Gowler, Clinton; three grandchildren Tracy (Steve) Boss, Brownsburg, Ind.; Karen (Jason) Mincolla, Okinawa, Japan, and Edward (Laurie) Gowler, Mahomet, Ill.; three step- grandchildren Cassi Flahart, Milwaukee, Wis.; Jennifer Flahart, Bonne Terre, Mo., and Calvin (Danielle) Flahart, Nottingham, Pa., and two brothers Jabez Jones, Nova Scotia, Canada, and George Jones, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Mary worked for years at the Clinton Bowl. She was in the Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame and a member of the Eagles Lodge, where she was a Golden Eagle.

Zelma A. Carter

Zelma A. Carter, 62 of Wapella, IL went to be with her Heavenly Father at 2:40 P.M. on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at her family residence.

 Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church, Heyworth, IL with Rev. Richard Gray and Pastor Spencer McPheron officiating. Burial will follow at the DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt, IL. Friends may call from 5 – 7 P.M. Wednesday at the Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Zelma Carter Memorial Fund or the American Diabetes Association. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL in charge of arrangements.

 Zelma was born October 4, 1949 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Raymond O. and Bernice F. (Nelson) Carter.

 She is survived by her loving daughters: Bridget V. and Angela C. Carter both of Wapella, IL; 2 Grandsons: Christian M. & Joshua T. Carter, they truly were the apple of her eye; 4 Sisters: Sharon McGhee, Donna Carter, Thelma Carter and Vivian (Russell) Crutcher all of Clinton, IL; 2 Brothers: Roger (Pat) Carter, Joliet, IL and Russell (Bernadine) Carter, Springfield, IL and many special Nieces & Nephews and Great Nieces & Nephews.  She was preceded in death by her Parents, her significant other and 1 Niece.  She will sadly be missed by all who knew her. 

Zelma was employed with Eureka Company for 28 years and the former Todd Uniforms. She attended the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church, Heyworth, IL.

Doris M. Jost

Doris M. Jost, 56, of Clinton died at 10:50 a.m. Friday (April 13, 2012) at her family residence in Clinton.

Her celebration of life service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Mark Savage will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Memorials may be made to Jacobs Well  3476 Summer Ave. Memphis, Tennessee  38122.

She was born April 3, 1956, in St. Ignace, Mich., to John Hibbard and Pearl Callahan Hibbard. She married Richard Heath Sr. She later married Chuck Jost.

Surviving are her mother, Pearl Garriott, Clinton; one son, Rick (Dawn) Heath, LeRoy; one grandson, Brandon Heath; brothers, John (Teresa) Hibbard, Clinton; Kenny Hibbard and Kris Hibbard, Clinton.

She was preceded in death by her father and 3 brothers.

She enjoyed collecting dolls.

Linda M. Welch

Linda M. Welch, 62, Clinton, died at 3:03 p.m. Saturday (April 7, 2012) at her family home, Clinton.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Interment will be at Mausoleum Park Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Linda M. Welch Memorial Fund.

She was born Sept. 13, 1949, in Clinton, daughter of Earl and Belva Hubble Nicholson. She married Charles Steven Welch Sr. on Sept. 7, 1969, in Clinton. He passed away Jan. 9, 2005.

She is survived by her mother, Belva Nicholson; son, Charles S. Welch Jr.; and daughter, Melissa S. Welch, all of Clinton; four grandchildren, Natasha L. Fatheree, Noah N. Fatheree, Nicholas Welch and Heather Welch; brother, Earl T. (Mary Ann) Welch, Clinton; and sister, Connie (David) Jordan, Carlock.

She was preceded in death by her father.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Clinton.

Linda was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved shopping at the mall.

Tatum Kay Wilson

Tatum Kay Wilson, daughter of Joshua Dean and Kristin Noel Douglas Wilson of Wapella, was stillborn at 12:41 p.m. Saturday (April 7, 2012) at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.

Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wapella, with Jim Dann officiating.

Visitation: none. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: Tatum Kay Wilson Memorial Fund.

Survivors: her parents, Joshua and Kristin Wilson, Wapella; maternal grandparents, Gordon and Diana Douglas, Wapella; and paternal grandparents, Roger and Susan Wilson, Lane.

Ulavon Walters

Ulavon Walters, 96, of Weldon died at 2:50 a.m. Friday (April 6, 2012) at LeRoy Manor, LeRoy.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. The Rev. C. Don Ferrill will officiate. Interment will be in Weldon Cemetery, Weldon. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Memorials can be made to Weldon United Methodist Church.

Ulavon was born March 25, 1916, in Lynchburg, Va., to Clyde Swigart and Viola Hall. She married Oliver E. Walters on Aug. 8, 1934, in Weldon.

Surviving is her husband, Oliver E. Walters, 88, Weldon, currently residing at LeRoy Manor, LeRoy. Also surviving are her three daughters, Linda Lou Gruen, Pontiac; Loretta Temples, Oakland, currently residing at LeRoy Manor, LeRoy; and Lucy (Larry) Troutman, Lawrenceville, Ga.; six grandchildren, Todd Temples, Mike Temples, Lynette Senter, David Senter, Nicholas Walters and Bryce Walters; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Larry Walters; and one sister, Daisy Thomas.

Hazel L. Luttrell

Hazel L. Luttrell, 90, of Tyler, Texas, formerly of Clinton, Ill., passed away at 5:552 a.m. on March 30, 2012 at Park Place Nursing Center, Tyler, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Calvert’s, J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Interment will be at Rose Cemetery, Lane, Ill.

Memorials may be made to the Lane Christian Church.

Hazel was born on August 8, 1921 in Clinton, daughter of Albert Wantland and Lura (Brennan) Wantland. She married Eugene N. Luttrell on February 28, 1948 in Clinton. He passed away on March 26, 2008.

Survivors include two daughters Dottie Pucket, Tyler, Texas, and Alice (Raleigh) Randles, Arp, Texas, six grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren.

Her parents, five sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and sewing for others.

David Lee Herzog

David Lee Herzog, 62, Clinton, died at 8:55 a.m. Friday (March 30, 2012) at his family residence, Clinton.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Clinton, with J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Clinton; Weldon Springs Foundation; local veterans association of the donor’s choice; or Little Galilee Christian Assembly.

He was born April 23, 1949, in Belleville, son of Lee L. and Mae M. Weber “Dolly” Herzog. He married Janis “Jan” Howell on Dec. 3, 1971, in Arthur.

He is survived by his wife, Janis “Jan” Herzog, Clinton; children, Chad David (Kelly) Herzog, Norwalk, Conn.; and Andrea (Wesley) Graves and Lindsey (Chris) Moody, both of Clinton; five grandchildren, Dawson and Keaton Graves, Ryland and Kenley Herzog, and McCoy Moody; and one grandchild on the way; and siblings, Sandy Furlich, California, and Rick (Judi) Herzog, Belleville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of First Christian Church, Clinton.

Dave was the site superintendent at Weldon Springs State Park for 35 years.

He was instrumental in the vision and construction of Veterans Point, Weldon Springs State Park.

He was a member of the Clinton Rotary Club, Elks Lodge, Weldon Springs Foundation and DeWitt County Restoration Association.

He was grand marshall at the Clinton Christmas Parade. He was past board member of the Inner City Mission Board of Springfield.

He was a chairperson for Building For Our Future Community.

He enjoyed running and had completed the Pikes Peak Marathon. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and mushroom hunting, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
