Jimmie Lee Ray, 75, Belle Glade, FL, formerly of Danville, IL, passed away at his residence in Belle Glade, FL on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 at Trigg & Calvert DeLand Chapel, DeLand, IL with Pastor Randy Dempsay officiating. Burial will follow in the DeLand Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 one hour prior to the funeral service at Trigg & Calvert DeLand Chapel. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Medical Center, St. Paul, MN or VITAS Hospice, Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
Jimmie was born on March 17, 1936 in Danville, IL, the son of Harold and Ethel Scott Ray. He married Betty J. Howell on Feb. 3, 1968 in DeLand, IL.
Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Ray of Belle Glade, FL; his mother, Ethel Ray of St. Joseph, IL; son, David (Norma) Ray of Kingman, IN; daughter, Cindy Powell of Georgetown, IL; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Jerry Ray of Urbana, IL and Jack (Joyce) Ray of Rantoul, IL. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold and daughter, Pamela Diane Ray.
Jimmie worked as a painter and a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing and playing scratch-off lottery tickets.
