Angela M. Woods, 45 of Mahomet, IL passed away 11:45 P.M. May 10, 2012 at her family home in Mahomet, IL.

Funeral service will be 2 P.M. Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney, IL. Friends may call Thursday from 1 – 2 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Angela M. Woods memorial fund to help with the funeral expenses.

Angela was born January 8, 1967 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Dexter Woods and Betty Chilton.

Survivors include 2 Daughters: Faydra Ward of the USS Abraham Lincoln and Sophia Screeton of Clinton, IL; Siblings: Karen (James) Curry of Clinton, IL, Rick (Judy) Strugeon of Clinton, IL, Ronnie Sturgeon, Sherry Sturgeon of Clinton, IL and Kim (Mark) Cooper, Clinton, IL.

She was preceded in death by her Mother.

Zelma “Pearl” Plankenhorn

Zelma “Pearl” Plankenhorn, 98, of Maroa died at 1:39 a.m. Friday (May 11, 2012) at Manor Court, Clinton.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney. Phil Yakey will officiate. Interment will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

She was born on Nov. 25, 1913, in Kenney, to George Meadows and Mary E. Trowbridge Meadows. She married Howard J. “Bill” Plankenhorn on Sept. 2, 1947, in Clinton. Bill passed away Feb. 19, 1996.

Surviving are a stepson, Donald (Betty) Plankenhorn, Decatur; four stepgrandchildren, Royal, Mark and Jacob Plankenhorn and Malea Koski; five stepgreat-grandchildren; two nephews, Vernon and David Meadows; niece, Mary Meadows; sister-in-law, Lorriane Meadows; and special friend, Karen Hoyt. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, seven half brothers and one half sister.

She was a member of Wapella Christian Church.

CarolAnne Hager

CLINTON — CarolAnne Hager, 66, of Clinton died at 12:15 p.m. Friday (April 20, 2012) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Her service will be at 10 a.m. Monday (April 23, 2012) at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. J. Kent Hickerson will officiate. Private burial will be Tuesday in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Clinton.

She was born Oct. 8, 1945, in Chicago, daughter of Peter Honcharevich and Ann Rybicki Honcharevich. She married Michael T. Hager on June 28, 1969, in Chicago.

Surviving are her husband, Michael T. Hager, Clinton; her children, Stephanie (Dean) Poignant, Lacon; and Dr. Donald M. (Rebecca) Hager, Great Falls, Mont.; her grandchildren, Matt and Lauren Connolly, Lacon; Nicholas, Samuel, Deanna and Benjamin Poignant, Lacon; and Kyla, Donovan Hager and one on the way, Great Falls, Mont.; and sister-in-law, Paula Hager, Normal.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Clinton. CarolAnne was a paralegal at State Farm Corporate Headquarters for 14 years, retiring March 1, 2011, and a Stamp-In-Up demonstrator. She was a member of NALA and a bible study group in Bloomington. Also, she enjoyed quilting and was an avid reader. First and foremost she was devoted to Christ, and also a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Louise E. Adams

Louise E. Adams, 96 of Clinton, IL passed away 7:29 P.M. May 8, 2012 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.

Graveside services will be 12 P.M. Saturday May 12, 2012 at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL with J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL.

Louise was born April 3, 1916 in Beason, IL the daughter of Henry and Cora Mae (Bradway) Bradshaw. She marrried Dale Adams Jan. 4, 1943 in Clinton, IL. He passed away April 25, 2003.

Several Nieces and Nephews survive. She was preceded in death by her Parents, 1 Brother and 1 Sister.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL; the Dr. John Warner Hospital Auxiliary, Rebekah Lodge and Order of Eastern Star.

Gregory was born April 29, 1967 in Decatur, IL the son of James B. Scott and Denise A. Dunham. He married Stephanie Rose.

Nancy Lee Chaney

Nancy Lee Chaney, 69, DeLand, IL, passed away at 8:50 AM Friday, May 4, 2012 at Kirby Hospital, Monticello, IL.  Celebration of Life will be at 1 PM Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Restoration Urban Ministries, 1213 Parkland Court, Urbana, IL with Pastor Ervin Williams officiating.  There will be no visitation.  Trigg & Calvert Funeral Home, DeLand, IL assisted the family with cremation rites.  Memorials may be made to the Nancy Lee Chaney Memorial Fund.

 Nancy was born on May 21, 1942 in Urbana, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Betty Brown Anderson.

 Survivors include her son, Leland Collins of Champaign, IL; daughter, Jennifer Chaney of Champaign, IL; 2 granddaughters, Ashley Walls and Jessica Chaney both of West Frankfort, IL; 6 grandsons, Nathan Collins of Bloomington, IL, Trace Collins and Aryn Gilinson both of Champaign, IL, Dustin Chaney, Dylan Chaney and Brandon Chaney all of West Frankfort, IL; 2 great-granddaughters, Gracie Eiserman and Lila Collins; sister, Shirley Anglin of DeLand, IL and son-in-law, Larry Galbraith of Marion, IL.  Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, daughter: Kenda Chaney and sister, Joann Chaney.

 Nancy had worked at the SPCA in Norfolk, VA.

Donald R. Palmiter

Donald R. Palmiter, 81, Clinton, died at 8:56 p.m. Friday (May 4, 2012) at Manor Court, Clinton.

A private graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Randolph Township Cemetery, Heyworth. J. Kent Hickerson will officiate. Interment will be at Randolph Township Cemetery, Heyworth, with military honors. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Donald R. Palmiter Memorial Fund.

He was born on June 27, 1930, in Springerton, son of Elwyn Palmiter and Phillipina Gersbacher Palmiter. He married Glenda S. Knight on Aug. 8, 1956, in Old Shawneetown. She passed away Dec. 17, 2008.

Surviving are his children, Donald R. Palmiter, Jr. and wife, Orlando, Fla.; Brenda (Ralph) Phillips, Bloomington; James (Becky) Palmiter, Clinton; Becky (Dennis) Ballenger, Heyworth; and Carla (Chuck) Richard, Gridley; sisters, Rose York, Enfield; Dorothy Hopson, Mill Shoals; and June Spears, Fairfield; brothers, Ronnie (Ruth) Palmiter, Louisville, Ky., and Darwin (Betty) Palmiter, Paducah, Ky.; sister-in-law, Jean Palmiter, Springerton; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Brandy Richard; brother, Larry Palmiter; and sister, Hazel York.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

He had retired from Revere Copper & Brass Inc., Clinton, after 15 years of service. Donald and Glenda were caretakers for Tri-Lakes Recreational Club for 15 years in Bloomington. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Mildred “Midge” Patricia (Pollock) Reid

Mildred “Midge” Patricia Pollock Reid, 91, Clinton, died at 4:20 a.m. Sunday (May 6, 2012) at Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Casual attire is requested. J. Kent Hickerson will officiate. Interment will be at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton; Presbyterian Church of Clinton; or Manor Court Activity Fund.

She was born Nov. 1, 1920, in Clinton, daughter of Edward A. and Fern Campbell Pollock. She married Robert Reid Jr. in 1942.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Marie Barnhill, Bloomington, and Carol Ann Hammer, Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren, Bob Barnhill, Bloomington; Jodi (Ted Hermann) Barnhill, Champaign; and Cari (Jeff) Hampton, Westminster, Colo.; six great-grandchildren, Sean, Nick, Jessica, Emily, Freja and Wesley; and one great-great-grandson, Anthony. Many nieces and nephews also survive, including Ron (Lee Ann) Pollock who helped take care of Midge.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Marie Massey and Dorothy Gasser; and two brothers, Edward Pollock and Walt Pollock.

She was a member of Presbyterian Church of Clinton, where she taught Sunday school for many years.

She was a nurse at Dr. John Warner Hospital and prior to that she managed the Shack in Clinton

Gail (Huston) Potrafka

Gail Huston Potrafka, 91, of Oreana died 4:40 a.m. Friday (May 4, 2012) in Decatur Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Union Cemetery, Oreana, with the Rev. Dan Spruell officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Oreana. Calvert Funeral Home, Argenta, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Oreana Cub Scouts. Mrs. Potrafka was born March 20, 1921, in rural Argenta, the daughter of Charles Norvel and Bertha Sturges Huston. She was a charter member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She was past matron of Argenta Chapter 819 Order of the Eastern Star of Illinois. She organized the Oreana Cub Scouts and worked several years with the Oreana Girls 4-H Club. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. She married Jack Wayne Potrafka Sr. on May 20, 1941, in Decatur. Surviving are her beloved husband; son, Jack Wayne (Teresa) Potrafka Jr.; grandchildren, Brian & Kristopher Potrafka, Tracie (Bobby) Willis; Edward and Andrew (Amber) Meyers; stepgranddaughter, Hannah Brock; great-grandchildren, Taiylor and Tyler Rodden; Alexander Xavier Meyers. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sally Meyers; two brothers; and seven sisters.

Lillie Sue Walters

           

           Lillie Sue Walters, 92 of Weldon, IL, passed away at10:45 A.M. on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be 10 A.M. Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Clyde Shreve officiating. Interment will follow at Nixon Township Cemetery, Weldon, IL. Visitation will be 5 to 7 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Weldon Library or the Weldon Fire Dept.

            Mrs. Walters was born on December 3, 1919 in Weldon, IL the daughter of Harry and Mildred (Saylor) Goble. She married Dean D. Walters on June 30, 1940 in Weldon, IL. He passed away May 23, 1981.

            Survivors include four Sons: Albert “Bud” Walters, Robert (Marsha) Walters and Jack Walters all of Weldon, IL and Paul (Joyce) Walters of Farmington, MO; five Grandchildren: Chet and Nikki Walters of Weldon, IL, Robb Walters of Springfield, IL, Wendy (Brian) DeMent of Clinton, IL and Joshua (Shae) Walters of Decatur, IL; and four Great Grandchildren: Rachel, Matthew, Jadon and Rebekah DeMent of Clinton, IL.

            She was preceded in death by her Parents, two Brothers: Gene and Lee, two Granddaughters and a Daughter-in-law.

            Mrs. Walters attended the Baptist Church in Weldon, IL. She graduated from Nixon Twp. High School in 1938. She was a member of the Town and Country Women’s Club, Weldon Lions Club and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. Sue edited and published a Weldon newsletter for over 25 years. She and her husband owned and operated Wil-O-Lou Restaurant and farmed in the Weldon area for over 40 years and she was a librarian for over 20 years. She loved to sing in the choir, play bingo and work crossword puzzles.
